The Newton Police Detective Bureau is responsible for the follow-up of all serious crimes committed in the City of Newton. Detectives also investigate missing persons, domestic violence incidents and elder affairs cases.

The registration and auditing of sex offenders living and/or working in Newton is handled by the Detective Bureau, as well as the dissemination of sex offender information to the public.

 




The Newton Police Department maintains a list of our most wanted criminals.  This information is updated on an ongoing basis as criminals are apprehended and new criminals emerge.

These persons should be considered armed and/or dangerous and may attempt to avoid apprehension.  If you know or recognize any of these individuals, do not attempt to confront them or apprehend them. Please call the Newton Police Department immediately at 617-796-2100.





The Newton Police Department  maintains a list of Newton residents for which there is an outstanding Arrest Warrant issued by a court of the Commonwealth.  The following list of persons has been entered into the Massachusetts Warrant Management System.

If your name appears on this list, please report to the Newton District Court, 1309 Washington Street, West Newton to surrender yourself.  If you know the whereabouts of anyone on this list, please contact the Newton Police Detective Bureau during normal business hours at 617-796-2104, or the Newton Police Department at 617-796-2100 at anytime.

Some of the individuals on this list could be considered dangerous.  Please do not confront or attempt to apprehend any individual on the list.

The police prosecutor, assigned to the Detective Bureau, is responsible for coordinating with the courts in the prosecution of all criminal cases initiated by the Newton Police Department.

Officers selected to work in the Detective Bureau receive specialized training in the following disciplines: crime scene investigation and the collection of evidence, interviewing and interrogation techniques, arson investigations, domestic violence investigations, elder issues, computer crimes, drug investigations, sexual assaults, and homicide investigations.
